When Google Play Protect warns about an APK, stop and read the message. A warning is information about risk, not simply an obstacle between you and a game. Disabling protection can remove an important check without fixing the reason for the warning.
This guide explains safe next steps. It does not recommend bypassing a harmful-app block, rooting your phone, or changing account protections.
What Play Protect does
On Android devices with Google Play services, Play Protect checks apps for potentially harmful behaviour. Its messages can differ depending on what it detects. The warning text is the best starting point for deciding what to do next.
A request to scan an unfamiliar app is different from a message identifying an app as harmful. Google also describes blocks associated with sensitive permissions and warnings about apps targeting older Android versions.
Read and record the warning
Write down the exact message or take a screenshot. Note the app name, download source, file format, and whether the package is a new installation or an update. Remove personal information before sharing the details with the developer.
Do not assume that a warning is false because a forum says the APK worked on another phone. That person may have installed a different file or release.
If Android asks to scan the APK
Allow the recommended scan and wait for its result. Do not interpret the scan request alone as proof of malware, but do not treat a completed clean scan as a guarantee either. Review the source and permissions before deciding whether to continue.
Our APK Safety guide explains why scans are only one part of checking a package.
If the app is identified as harmful
Cancel installation. If the app is already on the phone, follow the security warning and official removal guidance. Do not open it to test whether the warning is “real”. Avoid providing account, payment, or identity information to it.
Return to the genuine publisher’s website or verified store listing. Ask whether there is a supported release for your device. A different file host does not necessarily fix the problem if it distributes the same package.
If sensitive permissions caused the block
Some permissions can expose sensitive information or allow broad control of a device. The developer should explain why the app needs them and provide a supported distribution method. An ordinary game should not require you to turn off protection to obtain unexplained sensitive access.
Do not grant accessibility access, notification access, or device administrator privileges solely to satisfy an unknown installer.
If the warning concerns an older Android target
Older-target warnings do not necessarily mean the same thing as a confirmed harmful-app detection. Even so, they can indicate that an app relies on older security or privacy behaviour. Look for a maintained release from the genuine developer that supports your phone.
Do not confuse the app’s target Android level with your phone’s installed Android version. If you are unsure, send the exact warning to official support.
Check the source again
Compare the publisher, domain, package identity, and release information. Avoid modified APKs advertised with unlimited currency or unlocked paid features when the developer does not provide them. Read safe download checks before obtaining a replacement.
Keep your current game data safe
If the blocked package was an update, do not remove your working game just to get past the warning. Confirm account and backup options first. Use the update guide to understand what can be lost during a reinstall.
If there is a separate technical installation error and no harmful-app warning, follow safe troubleshooting. Different messages need different responses.
Frequently asked questions
Should I turn off Play Protect to install the game?
No. Find a supported release from the genuine publisher and address the warning’s cause instead of removing the security check.
Does every warning mean the app contains malware?
No. Messages can concern scans, sensitive permissions, older targets, or harmful behaviour. Read the exact wording and use official guidance.
Can CD22GameAPK certify a blocked APK as safe?
No. We cannot guarantee a file’s safety or override a device security assessment. The publisher and official security guidance are the right starting points.
